RIYADH — Minister of Justice Walid Al-Samaani underscored the pivotal role of Courts of Appeal as the second tier of the judicial system. He described them as a vital safeguard for justice, ensuring thorough judicial scrutiny of judgments and proper consideration of appeals, thereby strengthening judicial oversight and enhancing the quality, integrity, and efficiency of judicial proceedings.

Addressing a meeting with the heads of judicial circuits at the Court of Appeal in Riyadh, the minister affirmed that progress in the justice sector has been achieved through the unlimited support of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and the continued support and follow-up of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.

Al-Samaani commended improvements in the performance of Courts of Appeal. He emphasized the important role of circuit heads in overseeing the quality of judicial work, ensuring that judgments are properly reasoned, addressing grounds for appeal and substantive arguments, and resolving cases in ways that improve procedural efficiency and the beneficiary experience throughout the stages of litigation.

The minister also outlined future directions for advancing judicial work, including strengthening the role of technical offices and expanding the use of artificial intelligence applications to support the preparation of studies and draft judgments. He also emphasized the need to enhance the beneficiary experience, thereby fostering greater institutional maturity and elevating the overall quality of judicial services.
